I’ve been busy with lots of ‘behind the scenes’ work at Overdale Fabrics, but still found time to make this lovely apron. I just love the cake fabric which features Parissienne gateaux and macaroons.
I made this based on a pattern by Simplicity, but made a few adjustments. It is relatively straightforward and would make an ideal present. In fact as soon as showed it at my sewing class, a friend ordered one for her daughter!
One of the things that adds a nice professional touch is the edging and generous ties that I choose to create using sage green polka dot fabric. You do not need to buy bias binding especially for this project, as you can create it from about a metre of any fabric.
Having created this half apron (or pinny as my Mum would call it) I think I will try creating a full apron in the near future.
