Whether you choose colourful batiks, pretty florals or plain solids, you’ll soon have a handmade bookmark that’s perfect for your favourite novel, a Bible, or a well-loved cookbook.

Items you will need:
- Cut (15) 2½” x 1½” rectangles of fabric for the prairie points.
- Cut (1) 9½” x 1½” strip for the front panel.
- Cut (1) 9½” x 1½” rectangle of medium weight fusible interfacing.
- Cut (1) 10” x 3” strips for the back panel in matching fabric to the front panel.
Notes:
– RST = right sides together.
– WST = wrong sides together.
– The finished bookmark is approx. 9” x 2”.

Cut out your Prairie point rectangles.

A. Take the first rectangle and fold it in half longways with WST, press.
B. Then fold in half again to find the centre point, press.
C. Open out and position the folded edge at the top.
D. Fold down both sides at the centre crease making sure that the folded edges are in the centre, press.
Repeat for the other 14 points.

Arrange your Prairie points in a pleasing manner.

Take the front panel and iron on the fusible interfacing onto the back.
Place the Prairie points on the right-side of the front panel. Starting at the bottom edge and working up to the final point (as shown in the photo above). Clip in place as you go.
Sew along the centre line as shown by the black dotted line in the photo above.

Lay the front panel on top of the back panel so that you have WST. Line the point end up so that it sits at the edge of the backing fabric and you have a gap at the other end. As shown in the photo above.
Fold over the ¼” seam allowance on the long sides and press.

Then fold the seam allowance over again so that it overlaps onto the front panel. Clip in position and sew in place as shown by the black dotted line in the photo above.

Fold over the ¼” seam allowance on the short sides and press. Then fold that over again so that it overlaps onto the front panel. Clip in position and then sew in place as shown by the black dotted line in the photo above.

Your Prairie Points Bookmark is now ready to mark the page in your current book.
