Inside Our Monthly Fabric Club – Celebrating 100 Months of Fabrics & Sewing Projects

Back in 2018, we packed up and sent out our very first Monthly Fabric Club parcels. This month, we’ve reached box number 100!

Over those 100 months, there have been hundreds of different fabrics, lots of sewing projects and many, many parcels packed and sent out to our members.

But more importantly, there have been lots of people who have chosen to be part of the Club – some for a few months and others who have stayed with us for many years.

As a small business, that really does mean a lot to us.

A little sewing surprise every month

One of the things I enjoy most about the Fabric Club is choosing what to include each month.

I put together a selection of coordinating 100% cotton fabrics, along with a sewing project and a useful little extra. Every month is different, so there’s always something new for our members to discover when their parcel arrives.

Choosing the fabrics is one of my favourite parts. I look for colours and designs that work well together, while also trying to make each month’s selection different from the last.

Then there’s the project. Over the years we’ve had all sorts of things to make, from bags and cushions to quilting projects, gifts and lots of smaller makes.

Of course, you don’t have to use your fabrics for the project we’ve chosen. They’re yours to use however you like, and we know plenty of our members enjoy adding them to their fabric stash for another day!

Reaching our 100th month has given me a good excuse to look back through photographs of previous Fabric Club boxes and projects. Here’s a small selection of the projects that we’ve made:

What do our members enjoy about the Fabric Club?

As we approached our 100th month, we asked some of our members what they enjoy about being part of the Club.

Sandra originally received her Fabric Club subscription as a gift – and decided to carry it on herself:

“My initial subscription was a delightful gift which I have now continued myself. I love the surprise each month of the box arriving. The fabrics are always beautiful in quality and colour schemes.”

Sandra also told us that even when she doesn’t make the monthly project, the fabrics are added to her stash and used for other projects.

I think that’s one of the nice things about the Club. You might open your parcel and immediately want to get started on that month’s project, or a particular fabric might give you a completely different idea.

Celia has used her Fabric Club fabrics for all sorts of things over the years:

“The fat quarters are always of the highest quality – I’ve used them to make cushion covers, patchwork quilts, toys and patterns included with the monthly box which always include little extras.”

“But by far Cindy is approachable and I am sure I could ask her advice/help with any sewing issue.”

Thank you for helping us reach 100 months

It’s quite something to see how many different fabrics and projects we’ve worked with over the years!

Most of all, though, it’s reminded me how many people have supported the Fabric Club along the way.

So whether you’ve been receiving our boxes for years, joined us recently or were a member at some point during the past 100 months, thank you for being part of it and for supporting Overdale Fabrics.

I hope you’ve enjoyed opening your Fabric Club parcels as much as I’ve enjoyed putting them together.

And, of course, we’re not stopping at 100. There are plenty more fabrics to choose and sewing projects to make!
